1/13/2015 - I'm thrilled to announce that "My Ideal", my first recording as a leader, will be available on March 17th from Sunnyside Records! The record features nine of my favorite standards, played with two of my favorite musicians: Dezron Douglas on bass and Craig Weinrib on drums. Also, the great Ravi Coltrane joined us to record his beautiful arrangement of "I'm Old Fashioned". The trio will be making its debut in NYC at one of my favorite venues, The Jazz Gallery, with the great Ben Street on bass. Thanks to the Gallery for posting this nice interview about the album on their blog, Jazz Speaks: Glenn Zaleski Interview
More info about CD release shows will be coming soon, along with previews, reviews and more, so stay tuned for updates. In the meantime, here's a nice writeup from Peter Hum at the Ottawa Citizen, who placed "My Ideal" among his 14 jazz CDs to look forward to in early 2015.
7/13/2013 - "Limitless", the second recording from Stranahan/Zaleski/Rosato, will finally be available in October of 2013! The trio just got back from Montreal where we performed two sold out sets at one of our favorite venues, UPSTAIRS. Thanks to Peter Hum (Ottawa Citizen) for this nice review of our first set. The trio's next gig is August 2nd at the Jazz Gallery, with special guest Lage Lund!
7/31/2012 - Stranahan/Zaleski/Rosato is just back from Avatar studios, where we recorded our second album for Capri Records! Be on the lookout for its release sometime early next year. We're thrilled about this one: the trio has grown tremendously since our debut release, "Anticipation", and we can't wait to get this music out.
In other news, I've gotten to play some amazing sideman gigs so far this year. It started in March with Ben Van Gelder and his quintet with a series of performances in Munich and then around Holland. Ben and his band have always been an inspiration to me, and I went to New School with most of his quintet, so it was an honor and a blast to get to play with them overseas. Then in March and April were a few gigs with Lage Lund, who among the leading guitarists currently on the scene. We had a few great shows at The Jazz Gallery and at Smalls. And then in April came a series of shows with Ravi Coltrane. We had some great shows around the northeast; a notable one was at this year's Drive-In Movie at the Tribeca Film Festival. We played for an audience of thousands, and the movie we were opening for was "The Goonies"! We'll be playing again at the Richmond Jazz Festival in a few weeks, check out the itinerary for more details. It's an honor to play with so many great musicians in and around New York City, please check out the Gig Archive for more info!
The trio just returned from our international CD Release tour, performing in Canada, Spain, Poland and Hungary. Check out the media page for a great video from Montreal.
The New York City CD release show for "Anticipation" will be at Smalls on January 3, 2012. Hope you can join us! I am so excited about this trio, and I look forward to continuing to share our music with all of you!

8/18/2011 - I am thrilled to announce that I was selected to be a semi-finalist for this year's Thelonious Monk Piano Competition! The Monk Competition is the most prestigious jazz competition in the world, and it is an absolute honor to have been selected from an international pool of applicants as one of twelve semi-finalists. The semi-finals will be held in Washington D.C. on September 11, and are free and open to the public with first come, first serve seating. From the semi-finalists, three will be chosen by a judging panel consisting of Herbie Hancock, Jason Moran, Danilo Perez, Renee Rosnes and Ellis Marsalis to perform in the finals on September 12 at the Kennedy Center. Check out monkinstitute.org for more deatils about the competition.
I am also excited for a series of shows my brother and I will be performing at the beginning of September to celebrate the release of our duo CD, "Duet Suite". On Thursday, September 1 we will be playing a duo set at Smalls here in New York. Then the next day we head to Boston to play a quartet show (with Will Slater and Lee Fish joining us on bass and drums, respectively) at Ryles Jazz Club. Then we head back to New York the next day, this time to play another duo set at the beautiful and legendary "Falcon" in Marlboro, NY. Check the itinerary page for more details. Also last week I had the amazing opportunity to teach for the fifth year in a row at the Brubeck Institute Summer Jazz Colony. The colony never ceases to amaze me with its incredible level of talent and spirit. Thanks to all of the students and faculty at this year's colony for an inspiring week!
